analysed the value it adds for Sierra Leone. The analysis focused on various contributions in this regard: the balance of trade, employment and cash and non-cash contributions to the public sector (tax payments). The objective of the study was to strengthen the so called ‘licence to operate’. We executed this research project in a consortium with other consultancy firms. EconoVision contributed in particular with its know-how of input-output analysis and development economics.

we have analysed the feasibility of a large and innovative project in cotton seed oil milling. A cost benefit analysis has been conducted from three different angles: financial (commercial terms), economic (national scope and shadow prices) and social (socio-political scope). The study was part of a bilateral agreement between Tanzania and the Netherlands. The study resulted in a transparent definition of the value of the proposed investment for a number of stakeholders.

Development of an econometric model for regional integration in the (GCC) Gulf region

for the Arab States of the Gulf GCC) we have developed an econometric model. The objective was to predict the impact of closer economic integration and monetary cooperation between the member states on the individual member states and the GCC as a whole. Joël van de Beek has played an important role in the development and testing of the model. As a result the GCC established a Customs Union in January 2003. Member states are Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

, in close cooperation with the European Commission, a ministerial conference was organized in Abidjan for the governments of all Francophone African countries and the IMF around the theme of public expenditure and national budget management. Joël van der Beek was responsible the organisation, logistics and agenda setting. Through a series negotiation sessions, an agreement was reached between the national governments and the IMF on policy measures and budget restraints.
